We are continuing to develop the next generation of Higher National qualifications and work alongside our pilot centre colleagues to successfully deliver the NextGen: HN programme.

LEARNING FOR SUSTAINABILITY

We have a variety of Learning for Sustainability resources available to help with the delivery of NextGen: HN qualifications. We have also published a blog, covering the highlights from the Pilot Centre Themed Conversation which focused on Learning for Sustainability.

META-SKILLS UPDATE

Explore our range of Meta-skills resources which include a revised module for practitioners on SQA Academy, and the Meta-skills Profiler. The profiler resource can help learners record and evidence their engagement in the process of meta-skills development.

We recently launched our NextGen: HN Digital Publishing pages, which contain unit specifications, Educator Guides and Grading Packs for the pilot qualifications.

ENGAGING WITH HIGHER EDUCATION

Read about the work we've carried out since our initial consultation on the future of HNs in 2018 to the current pilots, highlighting the collaboration with our partners in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) which have played a key collaborative role in the development of the Next Generation of HN qualifications.

GRADING - THE INTERIM POSITION

The review of grading in the NextGen: HN pilot is well underway. Andrew Newman, Policy and Research Manager for grading in NextGen: HN, gives an update on the progress of the work taking place while summarising future developments.
