We are continuing to develop the next generation of Higher National qualifications and work alongside our pilot centre colleagues to successfully deliver the NextGen: HN programme.

NEXTGEN: HN - PROJECT UPDATE

As the piloting of the next generation of Higher National qualifications (NextGen: HN) continues in session 2023-24, we are working to support the future rollout and expansion of the qualifications by ensuring robust business and technology solutions are in place.

SQA AND OPEN UNIVERSITY ARTICULATION AGREEMENT CONFIRMED

SQA recently signed an agreement with the Open University (OU) which will allow learners from across the country who have completed Higher National Certificates, and Diplomas – including NextGen: HNs – to progress onto OU degree programmes at advanced levels.

ASSESSMENT SUPPORT - RESOURCES

The first Pilot Centre Themed Conversation of academic year 2023 - 2024 focused on 'Assessment Support'. We covered the assessment 'big picture' as well as some more technical slides covering topics such as combining and integrating assessment, sampling and inference. The highlight of the session was the break-out discussion, hosted by practitioners from the Childcare, Social Services and Accounting subject areas. It was inspiring to hear how our pilot centre practitioners have been creating new and innovative approaches to assessment. Our assessment support working group continues to plan for future products and support which will see further development of our new NextGen: HN assessment support tile.
